CHRISTIAN PUGSLEY

Adjunct Instructor

As an alumni of the MDD program, I’m excited to be back working with a program that was foundational to my career in digital product design. My ethos as a designer, I’ve discovered since leaving MDD, is to help everyday people gain autonomy and empowerment—through creating awareness and transparency in the products, systems, and platforms I design. I try to put that into practice everyday as the Director of Design for an early stage tech startup called Publisher Arts, where we focus on increasing content value for streaming services and telcos through data. Im also currently pursuing a dual-masters degree in Global Innovation Design (now remotely) from the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London, where my focus and research run along a similar vein, looking at the impact of data on privacy and the general public—questioning the meaning of “privacy by design”. I look forward to working with MDD students to further explore what autonomy and transparency look like in the world of digital design.

Outside of design things, you’ll usually find me reading a book, listening to far too much Spotify, trying to improve my writing, or doing concert photography—when there are concerts to attend.
